The VILMORIN Melissa (Lemon Balm) Seeds are an excellent choice for growing a fragrant and versatile aromatic herb in your home garden. Known for its refreshing citrus scent, lemon balm is ideal for preparing herbal infusions and adding a delicate flavour to sweet dishes and refreshing recipes. Both the leaves and flowers are edible and can be harvested at different times throughout the growing season. Melissa also attracts pollinators, supports garden biodiversity and can help repel aphids naturally. Easy to cultivate and requiring minimal maintenance, it is particularly suitable for beginner gardeners. For cultivation, sow the seeds directly into the soil during spring, in rows spaced 30 cm apart. When the seedlings develop 4–5 leaves, thin them out, leaving one plant every 30 cm. In autumn, select the strongest plants and transplant them to their final growing positions. Keep the soil moist without waterlogging and choose a location with partial shade or gentle sunlight. Harvest the flowers while they are still in the bud stage to help preserve their fragrance and properties. Leaves and flowers can be collected during spring, summer and autumn.
