This digit is multiplied by two in order to get the result. For example: 5x2=10 inches fan width. The last two digits show the amount of material that flows through the tip and is measured in thousands of an inch. For example: 15/1000 =015’ of an inch. Small numbers (for example, 311) achieve smooth finishes, with low surface coverage. They are recommended for indoor and outdoor use, when a smooth finish is desired. Higher numbers (for example, 517) create less of a smooth finish, with high surface coverage. They are recommended for outdoor use and for spraying fences.
