Gonggi – Traditional Korean Game
(Inspired by Squid Game)
Gonggi is a traditional Korean game of skill and speed, especially popular among children. It usually consists of five small plastic pieces and resembles the classic game of jacks, but with its own unique rules.
The game is played using one hand and includes successive levels of increasing difficulty. Players toss one piece into the air while trying to pick up the remaining pieces from the ground before catching the tossed one. The goal is to complete all rounds without dropping any piece.
Gonggi gained worldwide attention through the popular Korean series “Squid Game.” Although the game itself does not appear directly in the series, the sense of nostalgia and competition it represents strongly connects it to the show’s atmosphere.
Suitable for all ages, Gonggi is not only fun but also helps develop concentration, dexterity, and hand–eye coordination.
