Is it safe to keep CO₂ cylinders in my home and how should they be stored?

SodaStream CO₂ cylinders are completely safe to have in your home. They are manufactured according to strict safety standards to protect our customers and are safe at almost any altitude. Each cylinder is equipped with a safety valve that will harmlessly release the gas in the unlikely event that internal pressure exceeds safety limits.
Always store your CO₂ cylinder in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Do not expose the cylinder to heat sources (such as prolonged storage in a car trunk) or place it near open flames or heat-producing appliances like ovens, stoves, or fireplaces.

Do CO₂ cylinders expire?

While the gas inside does not expire, the cylinders themselves must be inspected and certified for quality and safety up to a specific date, which is printed on the bottom of the cylinder. For optimal performance, we recommend storing your cylinder at room temperature.

How do I refill my cylinder?

You will need to bring your empty cylinder to our store or service point. It will be sent to an authorized refilling center, and the process typically takes around 7 working days.

What is the difference between the pink and blue cylinders?

• Pink cylinders are called Quick Connect and are compatible with the newer SodaStream machines.
• Blue cylinders are called Screw-In and are designed to be screwed into the device manually.
