The AQUAFILTER FCCST is a water-softening cartridge designed to reduce water hardness in domestic drinking-water filtration systems. It contains FDA-grade, sodium-based strongly acidic ion-exchange resin, which reduces the concentration of calcium and magnesium ions, the principal minerals responsible for hard water.
By reducing hardness minerals, the cartridge helps limit limescale formation on plumbing fixtures and household appliances, while also helping prevent scale marks on glassware. AQUAFILTER specifies the FCCST for both Point-of-Use (POU) and Point-of-Entry (POE) applications. When the incoming water contains significant suspended sediment, installation of a sediment pre-filter before the softening cartridge is recommended.
